READ HER WORDS (below): This is the work of EVERY teacher.
It is the journey we should ALL be on.
This is not just about Black teachers during this heavily publicized moment pouring emotional labor into raising awareness.
It's also about non-Black POC amplifying, sharing anti-racist resources and spaces to learn, denouncing colorism and myths related to light skin privilege.
It's also about white anti-racist educators spending their privilege, amplifying, passing the mic, citing Black folx they are learning with and from, calling in racist friends and family.
It's also about Black teachers who are unlearning anti-Blackness, listening, learning, reading their history, unpacking their bias, laying down overly punitive measures in the classroom and building relationships.
Yes, anti-racist Black voices now are prevalent and strong--as we have been and should be! But we can not fight alone.
This. Work. Is. For. Everyone.
Stay faithful to what you have committed to when the people are jailed, the press goes home, and the laws are written.
This isn't a moment.
It is a movement.
The fall is coming.
Let's dig into what we can do better!

Today was an odd day in this distance learning adv

Today was an odd day in this distance learning adventure. I spent the day sorting through work that has been turning in, & had a handful students join my class Zoom call. I ended the day by sorting through student work & supplies that I wanted to make sure students were able to pick up next week.

It’s such an odd ending to this year. This week would normally be filled with reflection & celebration. Now I’m just hoping students & families show up to watch the end of the year video I made & doing all these end of the details alone.

This is not how I wanted to end this year. It just feels like it’s been a fog & so lonely.

One of my students told me I look like a Disney princess today. Of course, I asked which one & they said, Belle. Which is perfectly fine because I love that she sees the value in reading. I also took that opportunity to change the subject to talk about our favorite books. Distance learning or in classroom learning, I will forever be a #bookpusher 💙 I love that kids have no filter & say the silliest things. #distancelearning

What is your one product that is worth the price or space in your beauty routine?

We all have those products that we use every day. Sometimes they are around because they work or are affordable. & then you have those that you’d buy time & time again, because they are worth it.
For me, this Tartelette in Bloom palette is my #WorthitWednesday product. Is it cheap? No. Does it create the most perfect look for when I’m on the go or running late? Yes. It is one I throw in my teacher bag or with me when I’m traveling because it works. It makes me feel beautiful—even when I’m stressed out due to parent-teacher conferences, a field trip, and report cards being due all on the same week.
